The waters surrounding Gabriola offer an ideal environment for our Paddle Canada Sea Kayaking programs. Come and join us for a couple of days to paddle, learn and experience the Gulf Islands.   

 

Flatwater - An introduction to paddling a kayak in calm, sheltered water. You’ve thought about trying sea kayaking for a while and now you are taking the first step. Length: 1 day

 

Level 1 - Provides the skill and knowledge for day long sea kayaking trips in sheltered waters (non-wilderness areas) with an equally skilled partner. You’ve learned thing or two from experience or a Flatwater course and now you are ready to start honing your skills. Length : 2 Days

 

Level 2 Provides the skills and knowledge for kayaking at sea in moderate conditions, on overnight trips along a moderately exposed coastline with frequent easy landing opportunities Length: 4 Days with an overnight

 

Follow your course up with one of our trips this season! All of our tours are participatory. They allow you to take part in every aspect of the adventure and  provide the perfect environment for practice and honing your skills.    

 

Paddle Canada is a nationally recognized organization that has been offering instructional programs since 1971.

 

How to Reserve

A $100 non-refundable deposit reserves a space. Full payment due 30 days before trip start. We aren't able to process credit cards. In order to minimize your costs , please pay by cheque. Thanks. If you cancel, you'll get your balance back unless it is 14 or fewer days before trip start, in which case we'll refund you 50%.

What to Bring

  • Kayak (let us know if you will be renting kayaks & gear)
  • Paddle
  • Sprayskirt
  • PFD
  • Immersion gear - lie a wetsuits or drysuit
  • Warm clothing (toque, fleece, jacket)
  • NO cotton please!
  • Pump
  • Paddle float
  • 2 towels
  • Lunch & warm drink
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Proper water footwear

 

***Participants should be prepared to get wet and cold, then warm and dry. We will be

exposed to a wide range of weather types and temperatures during the course.
